Do TALKABOUT Radios Work With Each Other?
Yes, across the whole consumer lineup. A $30 T100 and a $150 T800 both use the same 22 FRS and GMRS channels, so set both to channel 7 and they talk. The channels are identical between models even when power, weather alerts and battery life are not. A TALKABOUT will also share a channel with two way radios from Midland, Cobra or BaoFeng, as long as they sit on the same frequency — privacy codes only hide you from the noise, they do not block the radio. Just remember FRS is license-free in the US while GMRS needs a permit, so compatibility and legality are two separate questions.
What Breaks Compatibility With Commercial Gear?
Three things: frequency band, modulation and encryption.
